Open House: Andrews Great House, St. Joseph
The Open House programme is presented by the Barbados National Trust.
Andrews Great House, in St. Joseph is this week's Open House.
At last it opens! In the shadow of iconic Andrews Sugar Factory, new owners have restored the old plantation house to grandeur with sensitivity and style. It’s amazing what can be done by extending some bits, moving a doorway and staircase, and applying tea to coral-stone. History, decor, country views, and an ancient orchard add up to a satisfying afternoon.
Directions:
From the ABC Highway, take Highway 3 at the Clyde Walcott roundabout towards Hothersall Turning. Moments later, turn right towards Hunte’s Gardens. Shortly after Market Hill, the land levels out and there’s a funny junction. Go left towards Bathsheba. Park at Andrews Sugar Factory and either walk or take the shuttle.
