Open House: Government House, St. Michael
The Open House programme is presented by the Barbados National Trust.
Government House in St. Michael is this week's Open House.
ADMISSION BY ADVANCE TICKET ONLY
This splendid 18th century mansion has been the official residence of the Governor-General, the Queen’s representative in Barbados, since 1703. The building has not radically been altered since its restoration in 1898 after severe hurricane damage. Today it is a graceful, classically furnished house set in large, lovely gardens. Its grand portico and semicircular portion have been copied at such fine houses as Villa Nova.
Only the public areas will be opened today.
