Holders Season 2013
The Annual Holders Season needs no introduction.
It's simply a feast of excellent entertainment.
Here is the schedule for Holders Season 2013:
Saturday 9th March – Opening Night
Peter Grant, Rebecca Poole and Ronne Scott All Stars
A Tribute to Hollywood
The Holders Season kicks off with an effervescent tribute to the music of Hollywood in the 50’s and 60’s. It’s the time of Frank Sinatra, his 'rat pack' buddies and the music that defined a generation. The evening is headlined by Peter Grant who has been compared to Sinatra since he was 13 and has topped the charts with a gold selling album - and he is joined by dazzling young singer Rebecca Poole. And it gets better. The two of them are joined by Holders favourites, London's Ronnie Scott's Allstars, led by its maestro, pianist James Pearson
The evening gets under way in the sophisticated hands of one of Barbados' very special talents, singer and song writerRosemary Phillips and her band. Rosemary has performed at venues and festivals around the world from Dubai to the UK to Canada.
Sunday 10th March
An Evening with Sir Garfield Soberss
Barbados’ only living National Hero, Sir Garfield Sobers AO OCC, will be gracing the Holders Stage for an entertaining evening reminiscing upon his career, in discussion with Compere Terry Bent.
The first half of the evening will see Sir Garfield discussing one of the most talked about careers in cricketing history, from growing up here in Barbados to moving to England in the fifties, through one of the most interesting periods in West Indies Cricket from the playing with the famous 3 W’s to captaining The Rest of the World. With videos of his records, including the famous 6 Sixes, Sir Garfield will explain his innermost thoughts as each ball was struck.
Following a brief interval, Sir Garfield will answer questions from the audience.

A Mahalia Jackson Evening
A rip-roaring tribute to the original 'Queen of Gospel'. Mahalia Jackson – who died in 1972 – was described by Harry Belafonte as "the single most powerful black woman in the United States." Visiting gospel music for the first time in its 20 year history, Holders' tribute to Jackson and some of the other all time greats from gospel around the world is lead by the Rev Basil Meade, one of the most charismatic of gospel choir leaders and the founder 30 years ago of the UK's top gospel choir, the London Community Gospel Choir.
