Underwater Art Exhibition - Andreas Franke

Famed Austrian photographer Andreas Franke has mounted a unique exhibition of his photographs underwater in Carlisle Bay at our premier dive site by the wreck of the SS Stavronikita.

"This is only the second time that this has been done", says BHTA's executive vice-president Sue Springer.  "Last year Franke, a well known Viennese artist, created the world's first underwater transformative art exhibit on an artificial reef on the USS Vandenberg in Key West, Florida.."

The photographs are mounted with magnets and fastened to the side of the ship.

Franke has created bizarre and bewitching images by combining photographs of the wreck with other photos created in his studio.

The SS Stavronikita is a Greek freighter which was purchased by Barbados in the late 1970's and is used as a dive site.

Most of the reputable dive shops in Barbados will arrange to take you there.
