Gale Theatre Season - The Mountaintop by Katori Hall
The Gale Theatre of Barbados and London presents their 5th season which features The Mountaintop, a play by Katori Hall,.
The season is under the patronage of the Ministry of the Family, Culture, Sports and Youth
The Mountaintop is an Olivier award winning play about Martin Luther King's last night on earth.
The play shows Dr. King as the man as well as the icon.
The night before his assassination, King retires to his room 306, in the now famous Lorraine Motel after giving an acclaimed speech to a massive church congregation. When a mysterious young maid visits him to deliver a cup of coffee, King is forced to confront his past and the future of his people…………..
Through rhetoric, hope and the idea of social change, The Mountain Top also explores being human in the face of inevitable death. The play is a dramatic feat of daring originality, historical narration and triumphant compassion.
Directed by Hanna Berrigan.
Produced by Melissa Simmonds.
The season as usual will unite talent from the UK and from Barbados.
